We all hate waste! we don't mean to do it but it happens from time to time from that last tomato rolling around in the fridge to that forgotten cabbage that you don't really know what to do with and then it was too late as the mould set it -
What happens next - we throw it away!
********
If you were to add up the cost of the global food waste issue that's around $1 trillion - INSAIN!
******
Just in the UK the annual food waste in households, hospitality & food service (HaFS), food manufacture, retail and wholesale sectors in 2018 was at around 9.53 million tonnes , 70% of which was intended to be consumed by people. ********** THIS DOES NOT SIT WELL WITH ME...
Not only does it feel morally wrong to waste food while there are people in all countries who don't have anything to eat and go to bed starving this waste which is taken to landfill is a big CO2 contributor producing green house gases which we really don't want to be doing right now especially when we need change, a GREEN change.

THE POSITIVE AND HOW YOU CAN HELP
Well it is actually rather very simple. We must be more mindful of how we shop and what we buy. Lets look at some options to try:-
* Try to buy only what you need.
*Try freezing those greens that you have forgotten to use
* Check use/sell by dates when you buy
* Plan ahead, if you think you will have left overs what can you make with them the next day?
A lot of time we feel very overwhelmed about how to do our bit but as I say SMALL CHANGE - BIG DIFFERENCE don't try to think you need to do everything at once but by taking these mini steps you will ripple your positive move to others and therefore create change.
Another positive is you can now download an app called Olio which is a food sharing app - so any left over veg in your fridge you can give it away to someone who may need it- Ill just leave this one here : ) https://olioex.com
